Uh Oh…..my bad.

I have been woefully neglectful.  Sometimes too much time creates a loss of focus for me.  No excuses, just mea culpas.  I have been neglectful of this space.  However, I have not been neglecting art….so there’s an upside, lots to catch up on.  I’ve been working on several journals, collages, and a few pieces I am working on to submit to CPS and Somerset Studio (so they will not be posted until I hear yea or nay).

To start, some  journal pages:

I still struggle with words…to add or not to add….As I look at them, the first page does feel like it needs written word and I think the second stands on it’s own.  The problem is even when it feels like words are needed I find myself at a loss, no words come to mind. Ahhh well, keep on keeping at it. TFL

Halloween on my mind…

Funny, I’m not a huge holiday celebrator of any kind.  And I rarely decorate based on seasonal….mmmm, anything.   It is true that I do like halloween…always like a reason to dress up in costume and eat candy, but I dont have much opportunity to do it often.  Still this week something got into my head about Halloween and I just had to make this little witch. I don’t know where she came from, why she is here, or what to do with her….but I’m enjoying the unexpected visit and maybe I will devise a hanger on the back and hang her on my apartment door.

She is hand drawn using colored pencils on her face and hands, gel markers on her clothing and hair.  The leaves were stamped onto paper and sprayed with glimmer mists.  The tree was also hand drawn with gel marker.  Last, I edged the whole thing with a smudge of  Tim Holtz distress ink, black soot.

Recent pages

Just adding on more pages from my marble covered book journal.  Funny, the photo always causes me to see things differently.  Now I see the blue form under the boy as body-like, with a shoulder most prominent.  In the original, it looks more like he is peaking out over a wall of some sort.  This was a lot of random bits and pieces–magazine pictures, scrap wax paper used to protect surfaces, a birthday candle stamp, and then drawing, painting doodling on top.

GPP Street Team Crusade No. 43–Text Messaging

6a00d8341c6e6653ef0133f2cf4ab9970b-pi.jpg

Just in time, this time….I’ve got 2 pieces to share.  I’ve used text in many different ways and one of my favorites, I call “Ransom Poetry”.   I have piles of cut out words and then choose or pick randomly and arrange into a poem of sorts.  The cut and pasted words look like the classic ransom note, hence the title.

So my first includes images as well as text from magazines and a stamp:

The second is just cut out text:

Both, I’ve realized are about the same thing going on in my life right now.  Just a procedural hoop to jump through in my final days in a program and they are dragging on and challenging me in ways I wish they were not.  Alas, I don’t get to choose that :).  And so, I am moving toward fearlessness…at least tolerating the fear, perhaps.

Dive in or Fly

A recent journal page that started out with just playing with some new things: paper doilies, journal spot stamps, and ink.  The little girl cut from a magazine placed as she is just clarified what the piece was about for me–dive in or fly.

Bunny Walked

“Bunny walked a long way before she found the light at the corner diner.”  There’s really not much to say after that 🙂

Just getting silly in the journal with photos I’ve taken, a magazine cut out rabbit, letter stamps, gel crayons and hand-painted paper.
