Stencil Play

More work in my journal….got caught in the rain the other day and this is what it inspired.  The dots and dashes in the background are a pre-cut stencil and the “kid” is a stencil I hand-cut.  Both were done with pan pastels.  Under it all is a layer of randomly placed bits of masking tape.  final details include circles stamped with a toothpaste cap and liquid pearls in platinum highlights random dashes.

A friend  blogged about walking in NYC rain (see “knee high stripes” on the right) and she is right, walking in NYC  rain is an exercise in getting hit with umbrellas.  But, here I seem to be remembering WAY back to college and getting caught in spring rain showers and loving it.  No umbrella, just getting wet. Ah.

Everything but the kitchen sink

I began with collaging the background with all kinds of papers and some water soluble crayons.  Then wanted to try a new stencil I cut…this with pan pastels and somehow days later the magazine picture of the cabinet just seemed to fit.
