Created by Hand Challenge

Today the theme set by Created by Hand is “Letters to Friends.”  I created a postcard that I will be sending out:

I also just realized that this is my 99th post! I had already thought about having a give away for my 100th, so that means next post I will be sponsoring a give away.  I will send out a package of hand painted backgrounds (8×10″ or smaller) to a randomly selected person who responds to that 100th post.  So thanks for looking today and come back soon to see more details on the give away!

Mail Art

My last entry was about creating art from mail….a few people called it mail art, I hadn’t thought of it that way.  Meanwhile, this year everyone wanted gift cards.  I find it takes some of the fun out of buying gifts for people, but I also want to not disappoint, so gift cards it was.  To make it more fun for me I decided to make some real mail art.  I’ve never done this before and am keeping my fingers crossed that everything actually arrives!

This is one, the front.  After I scanned it, I used gesso to “white” out areas for the address and return address.  I had a moment of rethinking loosing some of my design by the gesso, but had intended to from the beginning and so just pushed ahead and it really had a nice effect. Here is the back:

Three Muses

This week the Three Muses challenge is “mail art”.

I created this ATC using bits and pieces of envelopes from one day’s mail.  Some pieces got punched with a paper punch, some just ripped and glued down.  I used Jim Holtz Distress Ink in Tattered Rose on the background and some outlines in blue gel pen.  The words are all stamped on. Thanks for stopping by!
