Uh Oh…..my bad.

I have been woefully neglectful.  Sometimes too much time creates a loss of focus for me.  No excuses, just mea culpas.  I have been neglectful of this space.  However, I have not been neglecting art….so there’s an upside, lots to catch up on.  I’ve been working on several journals, collages, and a few pieces I am working on to submit to CPS and Somerset Studio (so they will not be posted until I hear yea or nay).

To start, some  journal pages:

I still struggle with words…to add or not to add….As I look at them, the first page does feel like it needs written word and I think the second stands on it’s own.  The problem is even when it feels like words are needed I find myself at a loss, no words come to mind. Ahhh well, keep on keeping at it. TFL

GPP Street Team Monthly Crusade- “Grids”

So this month the challenge was to work with grids.  Love ’em–they offer structure and yet you can make them any which way.  NO RULES!!!!  So, here are my 2 finished works…have a third that is still in progress, but wanted to make the July 1 deadline :).

This first one is in my journal and I just used Japanese paper tape to create an asymmetrical grid.  Then I went about filling the segments with all kinds of little things–punched shapes, grunge board shapes, a tiny tag, brads, and then gel crayons and touches of silver marker.

This second one is on watercolor paper and I used a handpainted/printed paper cut into strips to delineate the symmetrical grid.  In each segment I played with some paint, gel pens, graphite pencil, and more of the same paper.

Lots of fun! TFL.

2 Sunday Challenges

This is my first participation in both Sunday Postcard Art and Gothic Arches.  SPA’s theme was “goddess” and GA’s theme was “wild & wacky”.  I’m not sure my arch truly fits the theme…it started out as something different in my head and, well, you all know once working things just happen.  Anyway, this baby goddess was fun to make!

Thanks for looking!

Blocked? Swirl!

Have been hitting some bad creative blocks and not getting much done….oh well.  I can only go with it.  The more I fight the more I stand still, stuck.  Here is my Crazy Amigo Challenge for this week.

The basis for the swirls are gum wrappers…see my earlier post in February.  The background is grey gesso. I added Japanese paper tape and additional swirls with a Sharpie poster marker.  The little people often pop up in my art work…little folk playing, working, hanging out.  Thanks for looking!

Created by Hand Challenge

Today the theme set by Created by Hand is “Letters to Friends.”  I created a postcard that I will be sending out:

I also just realized that this is my 99th post! I had already thought about having a give away for my 100th, so that means next post I will be sponsoring a give away.  I will send out a package of hand painted backgrounds (8×10″ or smaller) to a randomly selected person who responds to that 100th post.  So thanks for looking today and come back soon to see more details on the give away!

The Return….

Just returned from Budapest and I am struggling to get my head back in the game.
